Technical Issues with Mobile Maps

With mobile maps using such advanced technology, it is no surprise to hear that there can be various technical issues with the software. Fortunately, many of the developers are constantly releasing updates to their applications which mean that most users do not experience many problems. However, for those users that are struggling, this article will aim to explore some of the most common technical issues that hinder mobile maps.

User Cannot Find Their Location

This is arguably one of the most common technical issues with a mobile map. Most of the time the problem is attributed to the user failing to hold any signal. The user should firstly check their signal and if this is either low or nonexistent, this is almost certainly the cause of the complaint.

Similarly, the user may be struggling with the wrong type of signal. For example, if their data plan is not functioning correctly, the maps may not load correctly. The user should check the type of signal they have and see if it is in upper or lower case. If it is the latter, their signal cannot cope with data services and they should contact their network provider.

What’s more, those phones that do not contain a GPS receiver will not function with the majority of software. Fortunately, Google Maps is one of the few applications that does support these kind of devices.

New Roads Are Not Located

For those applications that do not update their maps automatically, certain users may sometimes struggle if they are poised to travel on newly built roads. Most of the time, the GPS receiver will place them in a seemingly empty position which will cause much confusion. For this reason, it is important to constantly update the map software, especially if the user is going to frequently travel on different routes.

Cannot Integrate Application With Car Audio Device

A lot of the premium mobile map applications allow the user to integrate their phone with their car’s audio system. To do this, Bluetooth needs to be enabled and if the user has failed to activate this service, they definitely won’t be able to hear voice commands through their car’s system.

No Traffic Updates Are Received

There are two main reasons why traffic updates are not downloaded to a device. Firstly, a lot of applications require users to activate this service and many neglect to do so. The other reason is that the device cannot connect to the traffic database, which is usually due to a lack of data service coverage.

Technical Issues Summary

In summary, there are many minor reasons why users can struggle technically with their mobile map. Fortunately, the majority do not require expert support and the user generally has to check their application settings. On the occasions when a user is presented with a technical error, the problem will be more specific to the application that is being used. When this occurs, users may have to contact the application support team.
