Mobile Map Recommendations
The mobile applications market has expanded hugely in the last couple of years, with platforms such as Android and Blackberry providing developers with perfect frameworks to develop software for mobile users. With satellite technology also expanding in recent times, it will be no surprise to hear that mobile maps have become a popular product in the mobile phone marketplaces. However, with so many different applications available, it can become confusing for the end user. For this reason, this article will aim to provide mobile map recommendations for the general market.
Google Maps
For most users, Google Maps will suffice. The application is the most popular mobile map in the market although this is mainly due to the fact that it becomes pre-installed on many mobile handsets. Still, the software benefits from an impressive feature set with users having access to a huge array of features such as the ability to plot directions, read local business reviews and even receive the latest traffic updates. What’s more, it appears as though the developers are keen to adapt the application into more of a standalone satellite navigational piece of software, with features such as voice commands arriving in the latest version of Google Maps.
Garmin Maps
There is no doubt that for the majority of users, Google Maps will fill all their needs. However, for those people who are looking to perhaps completely replace their GPS navigator hardware, a product from Garmin could be recommended. The company are seen as one of the premium developers, with their products costing between £44.99 and £79.99 depending on the features that customers select. With such a high price tag, Garmin products arrive with brilliant functionality and their applications contain all of the satellite navigational features imaginable. Furthermore, the company claim to be the first to offer real 3D images of buildings to their users, to make navigation even easier.
AmAze Maps
It could be said that the mobile map application from AmAze falls in between the two previous products. Just like Google Maps, it is free to download although it’s fair to say that its features are slightly more extensive. It provides many satellite navigational features, just like Garmin, while the software also allows for social network integration. Bearing this in mind, many users may wish to at least try this product and see if it is suitable as a direct replacement for their satellite navigation system.
Mobile Map Recommendation Summary
Even though just three mobile map applications have been analysed, it would be fair to say that each is completely different and perhaps shows how varied the market is. Google Maps will provide the majority of users with the ideal mobile map experience and with the developers being such an established company, many people will feel assured by downloading this software. The other two applications both include satellite navigation although with AmAze being completely free to download, this should perhaps be recommended at first. With that being said, all of the premium software in this market is highly impressive and most can already act as a direct replacement for standalone GPS navigators.
