HTC Mobile Map
There is lots of speculation at the moment suggesting that HTC are looking to purchase their own operating system. However, at the moment the company mainly utilise the Android and Windows Mobile Platforms, with both of these systems providing users with plenty of mobile map options.
Android System
The vast majority of new HTC handsets run a copy of the Android operating system. With this software being owned and developed by Google, it will be no surprise to hear that it arrives with Google Maps pre-installed. This means that all new HTC users at least will have one mobile map application installed.
For those who wish to deviate from the norm, HTC phones running the Android system will provide users with a whole array of options when it comes to the mobile maps market. With the Android platform currently ranked as the most popular, developers have made it their priority to release as many applications as possible to be compatible on this device. At the moment, users will be able to download the following applications free of charge:
- Bing Mobile Maps
- Google Earth
- AmAze
Of course, some users may wish to get the maximum performance out of their mobile map application. Fortunately, there are a range of premium options for devices running the Android system, with the following two being the most established:
- Sygic
- Garmin
As well as the five applications listed above, HTC users will also be able to access more through the Android marketplace. Many small third party developers have created mobile applications and the vast majority of these are free to download.
Windows Mobile System
It would be fair to say that most new HTC phones run Android software. However, there are a select few that use the Windows Mobile operating system and these users are still catered for in the mobile maps market. Just like the Android system, Windows Mobile arrives with one pre-installed mobile map in the form of the Bing application.
Of course, users do have other options available to them with many developers releasing software to be compatible with Windows Mobile. Unlike the Android platform, popular premium developer Garmin does not support this device although those users who require a paid application can still turn to Sygic. What’s more, all of the free software that was mentioned above for the Android system is still compatible with Windows Mobile devices.
HTC Mobile Map Summary
It is clear to see that users of HTC devices have plenty of mobile map options available to them. Whether they are running the Android or Windows Mobile platform, users have a variety of different applications available to download.
What’s more, in recent times HTC have struck up partnership with companies such as Sygic and Tom Tom to provide their users with pre-installed mobile map solutions. With both of these developers classed as premium brands, users of HTC phones have certainly been treated very well with mobile map applications through recent years.
