Galaxy Mobile Map
The Samsung Galaxy range of mobile phones have become hugely popular since their original release in 2009, with Samsung releasing countless upgrades to the device in recent times. At the moment, all devices in the Galaxy range run using the Android operating system. However, following Samsung’s decision to release their own in-house operating system, it’s thought that future versions of the mobile will run the Bada OS.
With the Galaxy phones utilising the Android system, users of these phones have access to a range of mobile map options. This article will aim to highlight the main mobile map applications that are supported on Galaxy mobile devices.
Navigon Mobile Maps
Samsung are starting to accompany many of their Galaxy devices with the Navigon mobile map application. It would be fair to say that this can certainly be classed as a premium piece of software, with Navigon providing users with a complete GPS navigational product. Users can use the software as a standalone satellite navigation application, with functions such as 3D maps, turn-by-turn instructions and real life photos all being included.
Google Maps
Like practically every device, Galaxy users will also be able to install Google Maps. This software is the most popular in the mobile map industry, with users benefiting from a huge selection of features. It would be fair to say that the application is completely different to Navigon, with Google Maps including very few GPS navigational features. However, as a standard mobile map application it is certainly impressive and users will be able to plot routes using a variety of options.
Sygic Maps
All Samsung devices are compatible with the Sygic mobile maps application. This is seen as one of the best pieces of software in the market, with Sygic users benefiting from a range of features that make the application an ideal replacement for satellite navigation hardware. However, if a Galaxy phone already arrives with Navigon pre-installed, users should probably be advised to simply stick with that piece of software. Sygic is a paid application and while it is highly sophisticated, its feature set is almost identical to Navigon.
Garmin Maps
Garmin is in a similar category to Sygic maps, with this piece of software also costing the user a fee. There is no doubting the quality behind the Garmin application, but the same advice will be applied again; those users who already have the Navigon software installed should simply stick with this.
Galaxy Mobile Map Summary
The Galaxy range of Samsung phones has proved extremely popular over recent years and users are no doubt getting an extremely sophisticated piece of hardware. Just like all smart phones, the Galaxy devices have provided developers with a huge range of options when it comes to application creation. This means that Galaxy users have plenty of mobile maps to download although for many, their device will come with an extremely competent one already installed. The Navigon application is one of the best on the market and with the software including many GPS navigation features, some users of Galaxy phones may even decide to completely ditch their normal sat nav.
